The route
Best route: Kranjska Gora/Ljubljana → Peričnik → Zelenci → Belopeška Jezera → Lake Jasna → Kranjska Gora/Ljubljana

Start from Kranjska Gora for a relaxed schedule or from Ljubljana if you're up for a full-on day, You can also start or end the day from the Soča trip (ADD LINK)
Peričnik Waterfall
This is one of the highlights of the day. The waterfall is 52 m high, and the really fun part is that you can walk behind the waterfall on the trail. Don’t forget to climb above the waterfall for a mystery section people sometimes miss. Allow roughly 2 hours including driving/walking.

Zelenci Nature Reserve
Zelenci is a tiny, intensely turquoise/emerald spring surrounded by marshland. There's an easy, flat forest path to the wooden boardwalk and observation tower, so you don't need a serious hike. Allow 30-45 min.
Planica
Make a quick stop at Planica Nordic Centre, famous for its enormous ski-jumping hills. This was the first place in the world where someone jumped a distance of 200m. Ski-jumping is an unofficial national sport of Slovenia and you will see it playing in the background during family lunches. There is this crazy Prevc family who are genetically predisposed to ski jumping - each of the 4 children won an Olympic medal.

I'd spend only 20–30 minutes here unless you do the zipline from the top (Book ahead).
Belopeška Jezera / Laghi di Fusine
Ok, this is technically Italy. But worth crossing the border to the nation who stole Trieste (Trst) from us.
Cross the border into Italy and follow signs for Laghi di Fusine. These are the famous Belopeška Lakes, two glacial lakes beneath Mangart and the Ponca mountains. Park at the lakes and walk the easy loop around both lakes. The official loop is about 5.4 km / 2 hours. This is a good place for a picnic or a casual lunch/coffee.

Double mountain pass adventure
(Super optional high-achiever detour)

Drive an extra 2 hours more across two mountain passes to get to your next spot. Basically cross Prelaz Predel to Kal-Koritnica and then cross back across the Vršič pass. Expect good views.
If you’re planning to connect this trip to the Soča valley one, then you’ll already see half of it so you probably want to skip it.

Lake Jasna
This is the perfect afternoon stop. There are easy paths around the lake, piers and a lookout tower. You’ll often see people jumping from the tower and this is where Laura spooked the entire valley by her shriek of terror while jumping from a height of 2m (she’ll claim it was 20). Legend says no ibex was seen in the area for months after the event.
Back in Kranjska Gora
Finish with dinner in town. If you're not tired, take an evening stroll through Kranjska Gora's old centre before dinner. Then drive to the hotel or back to Ljubljana.
